About Paros

Paros is one of the most popular islands of the Aegean Sea and a world famous tourist destination. The beautiful beaches and architecture offer a great representation of the Cycladic island style, while the vibrant and interesting life of the island create a very unique experience. Located about 8 kilometers west of Naxos, Paros is considered to be an island of the central Aegean. Its closest neighbor, the island of Antiparos, is very easily accessible and a very popular trip for tourists residing in Paros.
As about terrain, Paros is has that similar to the rest of the Cyclades: dry and rocky land with several mountains creating a wild and exotic landscape. Additionally Paros has a great number of beautiful sandy beaches with crystal clear waters that offer a memorable experience to all the visitors of the island.
One of the main attractions of the island is windsurfing and kitesurfing, which have over the years become one of the most important parts of the island’s experience. The strong winds (Meltemia) that blow over Paros throughout the summer months have made the conditions ideal for such sports, resulting in the development of many related schools and stores throughout the island. Additionally because of such conditions the world championships for both windsurfing and kitesurfing take place in Paros regularly.
As about cuisine, the Parian is very much related to the climate and land of the island, having dishes where meat and fish are rear, but greens and vegetables are in abundance.
